 About Us

Steve Runion owner of STR Transmission, was employed by

General Motors at the Lakewood assembly plant for 18 years,

where he held various jobs in assembly, repair and management. 

The Lakewood assembly plant was scheduled to be closed in 1990. 

After much thought and consideration the options were to go to

another division or move out of state.  Instead Steve opted to stay

and expand his existing business STR Transmission, Inc. that was

started in 1985. 

Steve has also worked for Jim Ellington who was the co-worker 

of GM.  Ellington, had two transmission shops and has since retired.

Being from a military family, Steve has lived in many locations

throughout the US and completed schooling at Sprayberry High 

in Marietta, Georgia and onto North Georgia College in Dahlonega,

Georgia.

Receiving Certifications from the following; GM, ATRA, ATSG,ASC

and T.E.S.T

Steve is a proud father/grandfather of three children and four

grandchildren. Family and community are extremely important to

Steve and STR Transmission supports local ball teams and

various activities in the community.
